This position supports two major areas of the company. It works under the supervision of HR to ensure that employees and the company headquarters are well supported. In addition, this position supports and coordinates administrative functions for operations departments (Design & Engineering, Interconnection, Project Management, and Field Operations).

Essential Functions

  1. Under the supervision of HR, ensure that employees and the company headquarters are well supported. 
  2. Assist with new employee onboarding and resources
  3. Assist with employee data entry
  4. Assist with all elements of building office management
  5. Help the leaders of operational departments perform their duties to the best of their ability by supporting them administrative needs, including:
  6. Time card maintenance
  7. Coordinate Field operations events, team meetings, and trainings
  8. Assist General Superintendent in procurement and inventorying of PPE, tools, and equipment
  9. Create and document organizational systems and processes
  10. Maintain licenses for key employees in 10+ states
  11. Develop organizational processes to gather and track information for departments as needed
  12. Carries out other duties as necessary, which may include tasks such as copying, filing, making phone calls, and distributing incoming faxes and mail.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • 2 years of office experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Previous knowledge of, or ability to learn, Microsoft Office

    Located in Durango, CO, this position is responsible for evaluating and specifying the electrical components of preliminary solar photovoltaic (PV) designs and for the preparation of preliminary solar PV estimates for PV projects in various stages from inception to construction. This position conducts equipment research and evaluation, performs system design and evaluations, runs cost/benefit analyses, and provides written recommendations or reports.

    1. Review, evaluate and execute preliminary solar PV designs that adhere to relevant code and permitting requirements.
    2. Research and evaluate the operating characteristics of PV system components and make design and equipment recommendations.
    3. Develop, modify, and refine designs using working models to improve cost effectiveness while conforming with client specifications or changes in design requirements.
    4. Organize and combine project specifications, designs, and pricing into estimates.

    Required:

    • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline
    • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
    • Understanding of pricing and cost estimation
    • Knowledge of electrical design concepts and electrical codes and standards
    • Excellent proficiency in current versions of Word, Excel, and cloud computing platforms.
    • Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Experience with data management, spreadsheet development and databases.

    Preferred:

    • 1 year of experience in dedicated electrical engineering on solar projects, or equivalent PV education or certification

    Job Summary:

    The Electrical Foreman is responsible for leading the underground electrical team on the project site to install all underground materials and electrical equipment related to PV solar systems in a safe, high quality, efficient manner. The Electrical Underground Foreman is responsible for leading personnel, all equipment, material ordering, quality assurance, technical training, planning work schedules and crew safety inspection. This position reports directly to the Director of Field Operations with a dotted line to all project site supervisors.

    Experience supervising and managing crews of 3-10 individuals and maximizing manpower use.

    Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision.

    Ability to read, decipher and implement blueprints and follows typical RFI process for clarification of ambiguity.

    Must be able to perform material take-offs to procure all materials related the work.

    Have a full understanding of the inspection process and have experience interacting with city, county and utility agencies.

    Ideally, candidate will have experience with the installation of PV Solar Systems, D/C and A/C components and equipment, including but not limited to, central and string inverters, MV transformers, switchgear, etc.

    Qualifications:

     Candidate must be Licensed or Certified Electrician in the state of California to perform all aspects of electrical work.

     Minimum 5 years’ experience in Commercial electrical work.

    Job Description 

    The Project Manager will support the development and manage the installation of multiple concurrent, “medium voltage” solar PV projects throughout the Central Valley of California.

    • Supervises, schedules, directs and motivates the project team and subcontractors during planning, estimating, design, installation, start-up, commissioning, turnover and warranty of assigned projects.
    • Ensures customer satisfaction during and at final project completion.
    • Ensures best practices are followed for the development and implementation and maintenance of solar PV ground mounted systems.
    • Analyzes plans, construction contract specifications and codes to determine project requirements working in conjunction with CalCom Solar engineering staff and relevant contractors.
    • Follows up with appropriate parties to assure understanding and satisfaction of job scope.
    • Manages the development of project plans in advance of project activity ensuring effective execution by the Project Team.
    • Experience in project managing and installing multiple concurrent projects of different sizes is required.
    • Over time and after training, should be able to provide general guidance or train support and/or professional staff.
    • Train and teach other project managers and energy engineers the intricacies of installing and maintaining solar PV projects.

    Requirements

    • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects
    • 5 years of work experience in construction management
    • Basic understanding of solar electric (photovoltaic) and/or electric systems
    • Ability to develop and maintain schedules of crews, subcontractors, logistical requirements at remote sites
    • Ability to manage budgets - approved value, cost to date, projected cost to complete, total projected cost vs. approved value
    • Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, time management software, inventory management software
    • Familiarity with heavy equipment a plus
    • Self starter
    • Ability to work well and communicate well with others
    • Ability to work under pressure and on deadline
    • Must be willing to travel to remote sites and stay on location as needed

    The Project Superintendent will manage the installation of a single or multiple PV Project throughout the state of California. In doing so, they supervise and manage all site activities, manage work activities coordinating with foreman, crew leads and subcontractors as to site specific schedules, production rates and work progress.  Responsible for scope, schedule, labor, labor budgets, logistics, safety, and customers onsite primary representation.

    Main Functions:

    • Supervise site/ project-specific field operation teams, subcontractors, consultants, and inspections to ensure projects conform to plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets. 
    • Focus on safety, quality, production, and client satisfaction
    • Supervising individual or multiple sites dependent on region, size, and complexity
    • Manage and coordinate with individual foremen for project manpower
    • Deliver projects on schedule and within approved budget
    • Support and implement company construction systems and policies that enable the project team and business to work efficiently and effectively goals
    • Work to establish and maintain preliminary and final construction schedules including review of constructability issues of the project
    • Be proactive in discussing alternate means and methods or materials. Take necessary steps to identify products, processes and strategies that will help keep us ahead of the competition in the field.
    • Review and at times perform material take offs and coordinate with a project manager for necessary purchasing
    • Be able to properly execute necessary site administration including but not limited daily reports, incident reports…etc
    • Participate in regular and routine project meetings on site and over the phone with the entire project team so that issues are identified, clearly communicated, and resolved in a timely manner.
    • Understand and navigate all local codes and be able to interface with code enforcement. 
    • Responsible for providing regular feedback to the project team including Quality Control & Quality Assurance, budget variance, schedule complications, and other issues as they arise.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

    • Ability to manage multiple projects and a large-scale workforce
    • 5 years of experience in general construction
    • Understanding of solar electric (photovoltaic) and/or electric systems.
    • Current driver license

    Summary

    CalCom Solar is seeking a solar technician to join our Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team. The technician will work with the O&M Manager, Asset Manager and Production Analyst to reduce downtime of our energy assets and maximize our customer’s ROI.  The technician must enjoy making service calls for both scheduled preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance and conduct themselves in a professional manner.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Reading blue prints, running conduit, wiring devices, troubleshooting, and performing quality control testing – must enjoy service calls!
    • Reading and interpreting mechanical, architectural and electrical drawings and code specifications for determining wiring layouts.
    • Troubleshooting, testing and repairing emergency generators and various electrical systems and power distribution systems to ensure that they are working properly.
    • Performing upgrades or preventive maintenance to electrical control systems and PV systems.
    • Running tests, isolating problems, replacing damaged section of wiring, laying conduit, and performing other tasks as required.
    • Ordering and inventory of basic supplies when necessary
    • Training general electricians and working on various projects without superior’s supervision.
    • Keeping abreast of new technology, changes in PV system, electrical services, and manufacturing processes.
    • Fully comprehend electrical theory and NFPA 70 National Electric Code (NEC)
    • Repair switch gear and device installation and termination
    • Performing physically demanding tasks like moving or lifting heavy objects, digging trenches for laying conduit.
    • Be able to work on AC and DC

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Current Driver License
    • High School education
    • Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, various DAS platforms, and comfortable fixing networking issues.
    • Minimum of 3 years electrical construction or electrical maintenance.
    • Minimum of 2 years solar electrical construction or solar electrical maintenance.
    • MA Journeyman or master electrical license.
    • Basic understanding of TCP and Modbus protocols.
    • Basic understanding of how to interface with and understand various communication devices that operate under the TCP and Modbus protocols.
