The senior estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by Client’s and Company’s documents and provides complete conceptual and total bid price.

Essential Functions
  1. Maintains database of actual project costs.
  2. Reviews construction bid documents and helps define construction scope of work to bid by collaborating with President/COO and execution team.
  3. Executes take-offs of construction documents as required.
  4. Inputs take-offs into computer spreadsheet.
  5. Prepares cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred during construction.
  6. Models range of costs per costs code and cost type. Uses historical costs as inputs to model to determine unit costs for estimating and budgeting.
  7. Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of preliminary designs, estimates and associated documents relevant for bidding work as required by Company.
  8. Assists Senior Estimator with making a factored estimate where predetermined standard(s) are not available.
  9. Obtains pricing for materials, as required.
  10. Obtains bids from subcontractors, as required.
  11. Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
  12. Maintains and cultivates relationships with Developers, EPC Firms and Contractors as well as subcontractors and vendors when relevant.
  13. Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
  14. Attends departmental meetings, as required.
  15. In coordination with Sales team, visits proposed sites and participates in project site walks prior to contract execution
  16. Visits project sites during construction for analyzing means and methods of construction practices; coordinate with Senior Estimator to update company cost estimating tools accordingly
  17. Collaborates and coordinates with Sales Operations senior estimator on a regular basis
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  1. 5 years of experience with plus bachelor degree in construction management, cost estimating, and, or engineering plus  *or* high school diploma with 8 years’ experience estimating electrical, commercial & industrial PV solar and, or general construction

Brief Description

Primarily responsible for originating new business and closing contracts for commercial solar projects in all of the distributed generation markets. The Business Development Manager position will be responsible for developing pipeline and achieving annual sales target.

Essential Functions

  1. Prospect, identify, and communicate with high-level decision makers in order to create new opportunities and ultimately cultivate new customer relationships.
  2. Partner with Customer Relations Manager to identify potential partners across region.
  3. Collaborate with sales operations, estimating, engineering and the project management team in the proposal generation phase.
  4. Conduct site evaluations for potential customers.
  5. Grow and maintain a large pipeline of opportunities and keep them up-to-date.
  6. Report and manage SalesForce pipepline accurately and on-time.
  7. Perform contract negotiations as the CalCom commercial lead with the customer’s decision makers according to the guidelines established by CalCom.
  8. Incorporate business strategy into key activities and prioritize accordingly to reach sales goals.
  9. Stay abreast of all changes in the solar markets - including policy changes, competitor news, and market developments.
  10. Work closely with Director of Marketing, Customer Relations Manager, and members of Senior Management on strategic initiatives the company should be considering including new verticals, channel relationships, and new business development ventures.

Brief Description

Plays a key administrative role in the Operations Division by supporting the overall administrative needs of the Operations Division’s functions and staff at the direction of the President/COO.

Essential Functions

  1. Participates in program and project management for the entire Operations Division including, but not limited to facilities, product management, supply chain, design and engineering, project management, field operations, and operations and maintenance, which involves duties on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
  2. Assists with internal communication for the President/COO and the Operations Division.
  3. Within program and project management, organizes and gathers information from various departments and meetings and reports that information, along with recommendations, to the President/COO

Job Description 

The Project Manager will support the development and manage the installation of multiple concurrent, “medium voltage” solar PV projects throughout the Central Valley of California.

  • Supervises, schedules, directs and motivates the project team and subcontractors during planning, estimating, design, installation, start-up, commissioning, turnover and warranty of assigned projects.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction during and at final project completion.
  • Ensures best practices are followed for the development and implementation and maintenance of solar PV ground mounted systems.
  • Analyzes plans, construction contract specifications and codes to determine project requirements working in conjunction with CalCom Solar engineering staff and relevant contractors.
  • Follows up with appropriate parties to assure understanding and satisfaction of job scope.
  • Manages the development of project plans in advance of project activity ensuring effective execution by the Project Team.
  • Experience in project managing and installing multiple concurrent projects of different sizes is required.
  • Over time and after training, should be able to provide general guidance or train support and/or professional staff.
  • Train and teach other project managers and energy engineers the intricacies of installing and maintaining solar PV projects.

Requirements

The Project Superintendent will manage the installation of a single or multiple PV Project throughout the state of California. In doing so, they supervise and manage all site activities, manage work activities coordinating with foreman, crew leads and subcontractors as to site specific schedules, production rates and work progress.  Responsible for scope, schedule, labor, labor budgets, logistics, safety, and customers onsite primary representation.

Main Functions:

  • Supervise site/ project-specific field operation teams, subcontractors, consultants, and inspections to ensure projects conform to plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets. 
  • Focus on safety, quality, production, and client satisfaction
  • Supervising individual or multiple sites dependent on region, size, and complexity
  • Manage and coordinate with individual foremen for project manpower
  • Deliver projects on schedule and within approved budget
  • Support and implement company construction systems and policies that enable the project team and business to work efficiently and effectively goals
  • Work to establish and maintain preliminary and final construction schedules including review of constructability issues of the project
  • Be proactive in discussing alternate means and methods or materials. Take necessary steps to identify products, processes and strategies that will help keep us ahead of the competition in the field.
  • Review and at times perform material take offs and coordinate with a project manager for necessary purchasing
  • Be able to properly execute necessary site administration including but not limited daily reports, incident reports…etc
  • Participate in regular and routine project meetings on site and over the phone with the entire project team so that issues are identified, clearly communicated, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Understand and navigate all local codes and be able to interface with code enforcement. 
  • Responsible for providing regular feedback to the project team including Quality Control & Quality Assurance, budget variance, schedule complications, and other issues as they arise.

Job Summary

The Driver/Equipment Mechanic is responsible for transporting and maintaining several types of construction equipment, such as excavators, reach forklifts, skid steers, and pile driving machines. This position requires a self-starter that can work independently, while at the same time being a team player that works closely with onsite personnel and office staff.  The position reports to the Director of Field Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical work in the inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a variety of vehicles and construction equipment; perform vehicle and equipment inspections and preventive maintenance according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Drive a variety of on and off road vehicles and equipment. Haul heavy equipment to and from project job sites.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to vehicle and equipment maintenance, inspections work orders, repairs, certifications and assigned activities.
  • Utilize blueprints, schematics, rough sketches and technical manuals to assure proper inspection, maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies; assist in ordering parts and supplies as appropriate.
  • Communicate with Operations Management and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns related to vehicle repairs, maintenance, work orders and assigned activities.
  • Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
  • Maintain safe working environment by following safety regulations.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Non Restricted Class A Commercial Driver License.
  • Safety oriented. Osha 30 Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of techniques, practices and procedures of diesel, gas and alternative fueled vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Be able to adapt to ever-changing working conditions and situations. 
  • Knowledge of methods, equipment, tools and materials used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles.

Summary

CalCom Solar is seeking a solar technician to join our Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team. The technician will work with the O&M Manager, Asset Manager and Production Analyst to reduce downtime of our energy assets and maximize our customer’s ROI.  The technician must enjoy making service calls for both scheduled preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance and conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reading blue prints, running conduit, wiring devices, troubleshooting, and performing quality control testing – must enjoy service calls!
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical, architectural and electrical drawings and code specifications for determining wiring layouts.
  • Troubleshooting, testing and repairing emergency generators and various electrical systems and power distribution systems to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Performing upgrades or preventive maintenance to electrical control systems and PV systems.
  • Running tests, isolating problems, replacing damaged section of wiring, laying conduit, and performing other tasks as required.
  • Ordering and inventory of basic supplies when necessary
  • Training general electricians and working on various projects without superior’s supervision.
  • Keeping abreast of new technology, changes in PV system, electrical services, and manufacturing processes.
  • Fully comprehend electrical theory and NFPA 70 National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Repair switch gear and device installation and termination
  • Performing physically demanding tasks like moving or lifting heavy objects, digging trenches for laying conduit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Driver License
  • High School education
  • Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, various DAS platforms, and comfortable fixing networking issues.
  • Minimum of 3 years electrical construction or electrical maintenance.
  • Minimum of 2 years solar electrical construction or solar electrical maintenance.
  • MA Journeyman or master electrical license.
  • Basic understanding of TCP and Modbus protocols.
  • Basic understanding of how to interface with and understand various communication devices that operate under the TCP and Modbus protocols.  

With the President/COO, complete legal documents for the corporation including, but not limited to, contractor’s prime contracts, subcontracts, vendor and supplier agreements, purchase orders, non-disclosures agreements and researches law.

Essential Functions

  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
  • Prepare legal documents such as briefs, claims, appeals, prime and sub contracts, vendor agreements, design and service agreements, warranty documents, NDA’s and purchase order terms.
  • Work collaboratively with outside counsel, the President/COO and functional and technical managers.
  • Investigate facts and law of case to determine causes of action and to prepare claims and appeals accordingly.
  • Work with President/COO and insurance broker for any and all company and project related insurances including but not limited to preliminary mechanics lean notices, certificates of insurance, etc..
  • Responsible for the businesses licensing domestic and internationally.
  • Prepare affidavits of documents and maintains document file.
  • File correspondence and legal documents in office filing system.
  • Ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents
  • Process incoming inquiries by sorting and distributing company mail.
  • Solicit bids to procure a variety of required goods and services and negotiates and administers contracts.
  • Assist with contract termination procedures.
  • Perform basic analyses for firm fixed-price or similar contracts.
  • Perform commonly used contracting methods and contract types related to pre-award, post-award and/or price/cost analysis functions to perform well-defined and precedent contract actions.
  • Plan and carry out recurring work using established procedures, conferring with the supervisor or higher-level specialists as necessary on technical problems.
  • Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, taking dictation, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail.
